USA – Panama 5-1: 2022 World Cup Qualifiers – how it happened | World Cup qualification 2022

And here’s the Tom Dart game report from tonight’s game:

Walker Zimmerman speaks: “Every single goal counts. We were not happy to concede late. “

Aside from that, he is quite happy, as most people associated with the US team would be and should be.

See you Wednesday night, when the United States would perhaps be 99% sure of sealing their World Cup seat.

Fox goes on stage playing Bruce Springsteen’s Born in the USA, the perpetually misunderstood litany of this country’s hardships.

Another option: Van Halen’s Panama?

Berhalter talks about Pulisic: “He is part of the board of our team. I think the most important thing is that Christian has already been through it ”.

This is someone who wants a nap. Can’t blame him. Surely the adrenaline is wearing off fast.

FULL TIME: USA – Panama 5-1

To say they did what they had to do would be an understatement. Faced with a team that beat them 1-0 in October, the US men have withstood multiple storms and converted almost any significant chance for a 5-1 win. Only an absolute catastrophe – to be precise, a defeat by six or more goals – in Costa Rica would prevent the team from going to Qatar.

It’s still, Gregg Berhalter teaches the referee the lesson. Maybe he wants to miss the last qualifying match?

90 minutes +1: Panama continues to press, hoping to extend its World Cup qualifying campaign by scoring five goals in two minutes.

90 minutes: A football match is still in progress.

88 minutes: Torres walks over and bumps into Reyna right in front of the referee, who very sternly says he can only do it 20 more times before a yellow card is produced. Concacaf. (In all fairness, the referee’s advantage over the US second goal was exceptional. And I definitely make worse calls every week involving 9-year-olds.)

OBJECTIVE! USA 5-1 Panama (Godoy 86)

Head clean a good free kick resulting from the long foul.

It’s right. Steffen and the defense did not play well enough to earn a clean sheet.

So the goal difference advantage to Costa Rica will be slightly lower.

84 minutes: A look to the future: Mexico’s last game will be at home against El Salvador. Assuming they hold out against Honduras, the chances of them getting out of the top three are slim.

Costa Rica may want to start exploring New Zealand. Or the Solomon Islands.

Aaron Long takes a yellow card for a rough defense.

80 minutes: US Soccer would like your vote for Man of the Match …

Somewhere, someone is compiling statistics on steps, intended goals, and permissions to support someone other than Pulisic.

78 minutes: Ferreira could have a hat trick of his own if he’d been a little more careful about a couple of possessions. Or if he really took one of those penalties. Good work from the young man.

76 minutes: Finally, some bad but probably irrelevant news:

Goal Mexico 🇲🇽. Edson Alvarez fanatic header. 0-1.

– Maximiliano Bretos (@MaxBretosSports) March 28, 2022

75 minutes: Reference of the night …

Pulisic exits the game as Swayze in Roadhouse after the bar fight.

– Matthew Tomaszewicz (@shinguardian) March 28, 2022

70 minutes: There he is. Giordano Morris replaces the brilliant Cristiano Pulisicoto whom he hands the armband Tyler Adams. Then Adams is also replaced.

Officially, US Soccer is saying it is Gianluca Busio for Pulisic, with Morris replacing Adams.

69 minutes: Yellow card for Pulisic, who hits the ground and instinctively grabs the ball as if waiting for a whistle.

It’s probably time to take him out.

This is the insight I make a lot of money for.

OBJECTIVE! USA – Panama 5-0 (Pulisic 65)

Clinical, wonderful, composed. The development of Antonee Robinson and De La Torre on the left is quite good. Pulisic’s pin and nutmeg put him alone at 10 yards and he puts him in the net for his hat-trick.

63 minutes: Aaron Longa pillar before an Achilles tendon injury, prepares to enter.

Looking ahead, here is my suggested lineup for the Costa Rica game: Horvath, Moore, Robinson, Robinson, Zimmerman, Long, Bello, Sands, Palmer-Brown, Yedlin, Adams. That’s a goalkeeper, nine defenders and a midfielder who knows how to defend.

61 minutes: Oh, this is a nice pass from Reyna and a wasted opportunity from Ferreira. You might also see him as De La Torre switching to an unbalanced attacker when he should have shot.

57 minutes: Reyna leads a promising charge in the center of the field and Pulisic sends a pass along the ground on a post. The cross that follows is canceled, but Shaq Moore presses forward and is fouled. Good match for the last minute call.

Meanwhile in Honduras … is still tied up.

Coach of besieged Mexico Nanny Martino it is not there due to an eye disorder.

55 minutes: Still nervous moments for the US defense. Well, they would be, if they hadn’t already scored four goals.

But they don’t want to squander what they have built here. Nothing can be taken for granted in Costa Rica.

53 min: POSSIBILITY for Panama, e Tyler Adams saved a goal, blocking a shot from above the area after Steffen and Zimmerman’s miscommunication.

I repeat: Steffen needs to come out.

51 minutes: Gabriel Torres is close to 100 appearances. According to transfermarkt, this is number 99. He has 22 goals. His transfer history includes a stop at Colorado and possibly 400 other clubs.

Panama now has the upper hand on the attack.

48 minutes: Good preparation for Panama, but the resulting shot is calmly blocked.

Anyway – Reyna e Kellyn Acosta I’m in, replacing Arriola and Musah.

For Panama, Medina, Rodriguez and Torres enter, replacing Barcenas, Gondola and Blackburn.

Second half subtitles …

Much. Reyna is on the air, but she is Gio Reina, not his long-retired father. He drags a shot to the side on one of his first touches.

Scott Bassett writes: “I know the USA! UNITED STATES OF AMERICA! UNITED STATES OF AMERICA! he’s three goals ahead (and a penalty on the way) but they look incredibly open and wobbly. As if they needed Reyna on the pitch. Claudio Reyna, that is, to put his foot on the ball and calm things down “.

Expensive gift in 2006, though.

Statistics …

Panama had more than 60% of possession but only one shot on goal.

That’s all.

Not to take anything for granted from a US perspective, but if you’re in Costa Rica right now, do you think you have a better chance of overtaking Mexico instead of the soon-to-be-visiting Americans? If Mexico manages to draw only tonight, they would be on 23 against 22 for Costa Rica.

TIME: USA 4-0 Panama

Not the best half of the US game. They are leading 4-0. Sometimes, it’s just going your way. And the goals were all well taken.

45 minutes +5: Pulisic is pushed, comes back with a push of his own, and then someone punches the ball in Pulisic’s direction, but hits De La Torre instead. Pulisic goes ballistic, but his teammates show remarkable unity in repelling their star player from a messy situation.

OBJECTIVE! USA – Panama 4-0 (Pulisic 45 + 3 pk)

Mejia’s correct guess, but Pulisic’s shot is simply too powerful and too well placed.

45 min +2: PENALTY! Immediately after the referee Ivan Barton let Panama get away with only a yellow card after another brutal foul against Pulisic, a questionable penalty on some contact in the area. Barton gives at least one yellow and could easily give another for dissent.

45 minutes +1: Panama’s corner kick faded and Pulisic quickly took him forward and took the lead Antone Robinsonwho takes control of the ball with a pass on the defense but is eventually caught at the edge of the area.

45 minutes: Finally a break.

It might be a controversial opinion … but #USMNT I didn’t play very well for me. And yes, I know I’m 3-0. All the more there if their time up there

– Keith Costigan (@KeithCostigan) March 27, 2022

I just disagree with the typo. But they took advantage of their opportunities, and this is never a given.

42 min: TRY BY BICYCLE of Ferreira in the center of the area. It sends it way over the bar, but it was worth a try.

41 minutes: Pulisic flips the ball into a dangerous position, and some passes lead to Godoy’s shot, which he sends just wide. Flag was offside, however, but the defense seems too uncomfortable here.

Luckily the USA have already scored three goals.

40 minutes: A cleaner catch this time for Steffen.

From the records books:

The #USMNT is the first team to score three goals in the first 27 minutes of any Hex / Ocho game. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

– Paul Carr (@PaulCarr) March 27, 2022

38 minutes: Steffen lingers too long with the ball at his feet. No harm in this case, but you have to wonder if any physical pain is distracting him and harming his decision-making process.
