NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 3090 Ti is currently the most power-hungry graphics card with a rated TDP of 450W, but overclockers have managed to push it well beyond this limit.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti graphics card pushed to 890W power limit with “XOC” BIOS, 950W with Furmark loaded
Twitter user, MEGAsizeGPU, he managed to unlock a higher power limit thanks to the XOC (Extreme Overclock) BIOS he got his hands on. The BIOS was flashed on an ASUS GeForce RTX 3090 Ti TUF Gaming graphics card that comes with a nominal TDP of 450W, which is the reference limit, but once flashed, the GPU power limit jumped to 890W, which is almost double its original power limit and super close to the 1KW barrier.

In terms of practical use, such a high power limit will be of little or no use to gamers as not only do you have the power to power the monstrous 890 Watts through a single 16-pin connector that only goes up to 450W but cooling. on most of these cards they are not designed to sustain a high TDP above 600 W. There is a reason there are only two NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti graphics cards that have dual 16-pin connectors and those are primarily aimed at enthusiasts. of LN2 OC.

That said, the ASUS GeForce RTX 3090 Ti TUF Gaming graphics card was able to run at up to 615W (TBP) and 496W (TGP), while Chiphell was also able to equip the same BIOS on an EVGA GeForce RTX graphics card. 3090 Ti FTW3 and reported a 614W (TBP) and 498W (TGP). Again, these numbers will have minimal impact on core clocks unless you use them in LN2 24/7. Currently, most custom NVIDIA 3090 Ti models end up with a TBP of 450-516. W, which is just a teaser of what’s to come next.
Running Furmark pushes the power drawn from the card to 945W and that of the GPU to 822W. It is unclear whether these are peak power excursions or short power surges as a single 16-pin connector cannot provide a sustained absorption of 950 W.

If you want to try the XOC BIOS for your NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti graphics card yourself, you can get it from the Chiphell forums or TechPowerUp’s BIOS collection database, but as a precaution, use it at your own risk as it powers the card with so much power. power can break it and even the flashing process itself can turn your card into a brick if not done right. I would recommend that only professional overclockers use this BIOS and if you are a gamer don’t turn your $ 2000 US card into an expensive paperweight.
